    Energy efficiency classes and calculation method

    It is possible to assign an energy efficiency class to all LED strips having a real power consumption lower than the maximum allowed power (this value is calculated with the ecodesign formula). First of all we need to calculate the total mains efficacy ŋTM by using the formula below:

    ŋTM = (ɸuse/Pon)*FTM

    Wherein:

    • ɸuse: is the luminous flux of the LED strip, declared on the test report;

    • Pon: is the power consumption of the LED strip (Note: ɸuse/Pon is the LED strip efficiency declared on the test report);

    • FTM: is the correction factor etablished according to the light source. For LED strip its value is 0,926 since they are non-directional (NDLS) and non-mains light sources (NMLS).

    The final result of the calculation its a value that determines the energy efficiency class of light sources as set out in the table below:

    Energy efficiency class

    Total mains efficacay ŋTM (lm/W)

    A

    210 ≤ ŋTM

    B

    185 ≤ ŋTM < 210

    C

    160 ≤ ŋTM < 185

    D

    135 ≤ ŋTM < 160

    E

    110 ≤ ŋTM < 135

    F

    85 ≤ ŋTM < 110

    G

    ŋTM < 85
