    Container element

    Container element

The Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/2020 of 1 October 2019 establishes the specifications for the ecodesign of light sources, specifying the minimum characteristics necessary for a light source so that it can be placed on the market. Among the various definitions that this contains, that of the container product is the one we will focus on.

By container product is intended a lighting fixture with internal light sources that can be removed from the container itself for verification for regulatory purposes. The light source must be capable of being removed without being damaged, while the container product may be damaged.

This definition of container, for the purpose of ERP verification and the definition of the energy class for LED strips with water protection and neon flex, allows to take into consideration  the LED strip without IP protection. This is because the silicone casing is the container element and inside is the source, the strip, which is normally removable without being damaged.

The energy class shown on the label of our products is calculated based on the luminous flux of the internal light source, while the declared and luminous flux visible in the tests is lower and is related to the strip inside the container. It is very important to consider the luminous flux of the finished product because this can be significantly different from that of the LED strip inside.
