SMDs mounted on LED tapes

One of the aspect that mostly affect the real amount of light emitted by an LED strip is the kind of SMD chip mounted on it.
In this article we are going to describe the most common SMD chips and explain the difference between one kind and another.

2835
The 2835 LED is one of the most innovative and performing SMD chip in terms of power and light efficiency. If compared to other LED chips it features a bigger dissipator inside that allows a better heat dissipation and, as a consequence, a longer duration.
For this model the producer issued the Lm-80 test to guarantee the LED quality and lifetime.
Our LED 2835 has an average lifetime of 54.000 hours at an operating temperature of 85°C.
Due to their high light efficiency the LED strips with this SMD chip are mostly used for main lighting.

3528
It is a kind of LED chip featuring a good quality and performance but with a lower power and light efficiency if compared to 2835 LED chip. For this reason LED strips featuring this SMD are more suitable for decorative lighting.

2216
The 2216 LED chip has a very thin package and a CRI greater than 90. LED strips featuring this SMD are perfect if you want to get a faithful colour reproduction in your installation and a “free dots” effect thanks to the high number of LEDs per meter.

5050
The 5050 LED is more outdated than other chips but still very common in particular for RGB LED strips. It features three chips inside and a lower heat dissipation.

335 side led
Also known as side led, it is a very specific LED since it emits the light laterally.

5630
The 5630 is a very new chip with a high light intensity and colour rendering.

3535
The 3535 SMD replaces the outdated 5050 chip mounted on RGB LED strips and it is used for some UV installation.

3838
The 3838 SMD replaces the outdated 5050 chip and is mounted on RGB LED tapes. It is a very high-performing LED and allows to have more LEDs per meter.

3014
The 3014 is an LED chip that guarantees a great and long-lasting performance and a high light efficiency. Suitable both for domestic and commercial use.
